Sylvia Lee

Instructor

Dr. Lee's research spans from genes to ecosystems and a range of spatial scales. How do aquatic microorganisms respond to changes in their habitat and to multiple stressors in freshwater ecosystems? Stressors of interest include hydrologic change, pharmaceuticals and illicit drugs, road salt, and nutrients. How does microbial diversity influence ecosystem-scale processes? Dr. Lee is especially interested in diatom taxonomy and ecology, and applications of diatoms for indicator development.
